Rich read English Literature and Language at St Andrews University. He then worked as a freelance actor, before joining Saltmine Theatre Company where he worked as a writer, actor, director and teacher of acting. Upon joining the faculty of Regents he completed a second Masters degree at the Shakespeare Institute, winning the 2016 Tom Matheson Prize for outstanding scholarly work in Theatre and Creativity, for his dissertation. Rich continues to write regularly for various theatre companies.
