Accreditation of Prior Learning
Regents Theological College follows the University of Chester, our validating partner’s procedures for accreditation of any prior learning by an applicant to the undergraduate / postgraduate programmes.

Applicants to the college would flag potential recognition of prior learning when applying for a course which would then be picked up through the application and interview process by the admissions administrator. Applicants are asked to supply relevant transcripts from a Higher Education Provider which would be reviewed by the Academic Registrar and Academic Dean. Where relevant, an application for APL/APEL would be made via completion of the relevant University APL/APEL form. The application is then forwarded to the University Theology and Religious Studies Department for scrutiny by an Academic Assessor and Faculty Credit Co-ordinator for subsequent onward transmission to the University APL Review Panel for a decision. Applicants will be kept informed of progress through the admissions administrator. A positive outcome would allow the applicant to enrol at the deemed correct entry point to the programme with credit acknowledged for any APL approved modules.

Please note at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level prior learning is dealt on a case by case basis at the admissions stage with an emphasis on the student’s previous academic qualifications and their equivalence to the programmes offered at Regents.

Transcripts of Studies
Students receive a Transcript of Studies at the end of each academic year outlining all modules undertaken, together with credit value and grade obtained. On successful completion of the course a full transcript of studies is produced by the awarding University with the award certificate. The transcript can be used as evidence of specific modules undertaken which may be of value if seeking subsequent accreditation of prior learning at another Higher Education Provider.

Transfer of course
As Regents has a restricted number of course programmes it is unlikely that you will request to transfer between degree programmes. However, in the event of a transfer request please see your course leader and faculty administrative supervisor. A transfer of course form will need to be completed with course leader approval.
