James began his PhD in October 2022, after completing his MA at Regents Theological College, where he is researching the theological and practical implications of the ‘full gospel’, especially Spirit-baptism, for the organisation and leadership of Pentecostal congregations. He has served in various leadership, pastoral, and teaching roles within local Pentecostal Churches and the Christian charity sector over the past two decades, and is currently employed as a Free Church chaplain in the UK Civil Service. Along with his family, James worships at a multi-site independent Pentecostal church in East Yorkshire, where he is involved in preaching, teaching, and leadership in a voluntary capacity.
