Student Support

As well as having a diverse and accomplished teaching staff who are always willing to discuss and help you throughout your course, Regents Theological College also offers a number of other opportunities for further support and assistance.

Regents believes in the power of relationships to transform lives, and to support this each undergraduate student will be assigned a personal tutor group.

As an undergraduate student, if you are studying on campus, you will meet once a week with your tutor group to talk around academic, pastoral and discipleship needs. The group will be made up of people from different years, which is also a way to get to know other students, and learn from their experiences.

If you are a context student you will meet your tutor group for lunch whenever you are onsite for a focused learning week.

As well as developing your relationship with other students, the tutor programme enables you to get to know a member of the faculty who can be your first point of contact for pastoral and academic issues throughout your time at college.

Postgraduate students initial port of call is with Student Services who can signpost them to the relevant faculty members to provide guidance and support, and to engage with the Regents Theological College or University of Chester processes. Faculty members functioning as module lecturers and dissertation supervisors are the primary contact points for support for academic research. They can also provide feedback and guidance as students work on their assessments. Postgraduate students are also able to seek academic support or general advice regarding their studies at any point from the Dean of Postgraduate Studies.

Pastoral Care and Support

As part of our focus on student support, Regent’s has a Wellbeing Team which consists of the Director of Spiritual Formation, two part-time chaplains (one male and one female), a number of student wellbeing reps, and a professional Christian counselling service.

The team’s aim is to look after wellbeing, and to offer mental health support to any and all students. The team works closely with student’s personal tutors to provide this care.

Should it be necessary, the chaplains and Director of Spiritual Formation are available when more focused care is needed. They can also refer students to the college’s independent Christian counselling services at the Lyttelton Well should there be a deeper need.

Discipleship at Regents Theological College.

As part of our ‘Heads, Hearts and Hands’ focus, we run a number of enrichment activities at Regents.

On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday morning’s we come together as a community to worship and hear a thought from the Bible. On Wednesday afternoons we join together for a longer time of praise and worship, and a talk from a member of staff or invited guest.

It is a central theme of college life that your studies do not get separated from your discipleship journey with God.

These times, alongside the Holy Spirit Encounter Nights, the regular student-organised prayer meetings, and your personal devotional life, are key to you getting the most out of your student experience.

Allowances for students with a learning difficulty

If you are a student with a learning difficulty, health problem, or disability, then we are here to help.

As well as a campus wide inclusive learning policy that supports students with Dyslexia and other needs, we can also support you with accessible rooms.

Students with additional needs may be entitled to assistance. GOV.UK’s website gives details and can be used to determine the criteria for eligibility. This site also advises on how to apply for DSA funding, if you meet the stipulated criteria.

If you are eligible for DSA support, we encourage students to apply for this as soon as they have been offered a place at Regents Theological College. It can take 10-12 weeks to complete the process and the earlier the support is applied for, the easier your start to Regents will be.

Harassment and Sexual Misconduct

This is the single comprehensive source of information for the College which sets out our policies and procedures on subject matter relating to incidents of harassment and/or sexual misconduct.

Regents Theological College is committed to providing a study and work environment free from harassment, bullying and sexual misconduct and to ensuring all students and staff are treated, and treat others, with dignity and respect.

Harassment (sexual or otherwise), bullying or victimisation of any member of the Regents community is unlawful and will not be tolerated. They may lead to disciplinary action up to and including dismissal and can result in legal liability for both the College and the perpetrator. The College will take active steps to help prevent the harassment and victimisation of all community members. Anyone who is a victim of, or witness to, harassment or bullying is encouraged to report it in accordance with this policy. This will enable us to take appropriate action and provide support.
