How often do you meet up with your former fellow students? And what if you studied 50 years ago? Would you even remember your old friends? Well, recently there was a remarkable re-union of men and women who all joined the Elim Bible College at Capel on the same day in 1968. Not only that, but they have also all served in Elim churches for most of the past 50 years. One of the group, Philip Parsons, takes up the story…
“It was incredible to see everyone again. We gelled as if it was yesterday, with lots of fun and banter, as well as a little more serious stuff when lasting friendships were remembered. One of our group had been Elim’s General Superintendent, two became Regional Superintendents, others served as missionaries and pastors and one was even awarded an OBE. Those of us who entered the Elim ministry, all served to retiring age, except for one who achieved 25 years and is now involved in Christian service outside Elim. Not surprisingly, our current General Superintendent, Chris Cartwright, told us our year group was “unique”.
